We knew that the Packers were going to make a move, after releasing wide receiver/kickreturner Jermey Ross last week. Many assumed that Green Bay would add a returner to fill Ross’ spot. Instead, the Packers have decided to sign Michael Hill, a running back from their practice squad.
Hill, a rookie from Missouri Western State, spent the off-season with the San Diego Chargers. The Packers signed him to their practice squad on September 30th following his release from San Diego.
With Hill’s addition, it does raises questions about the status of James Starks, who left week 3’s game against the Bengals with a knee injury. Due to the bye week, the team has not yet provided an update on Stark’s status. Hill’s signing could be a signal that Starks might be unavailable for week 5 and beyond.
To fill Hill’s spot on the practice squad, the Packers signed receiver Reggie Dunn. Dunn, a rookie out of Utah, is most notable for his return abilities. If Starks or another player is placed on IR or released, Dunn would be a key candidate to replace him.
